In addition to the Data and Evaluation Committee providing recommendations to the Oregon Health Authority on wanted data points and existing dashboards, they also review reports released by agencies like the Oregon Health Authority, and provide feedback. Data reports are also used to inform our work including advocacy efforts and YSIPP Initiatives. 

 

ESSENCE Report

Syndromic surveillance in Oregon (a project called Oregon ESSENCE – Electronic Surveillance System for the Early Notification of Community-Based Epidemics) provides real-time data for public health and hospitals to monitor what is happening in emergency departments across the state before, during and after a public health emergency.

Student Health Survey (Previously the Oregon Healthy Teens Survey)

Oregon’s Student Health Survey (SHS) is a collaborative effort with the Oregon Department of Education. The SHS is a comprehensive, school-based, anonymous and voluntary health survey of 6th, 8th and 11th graders conducted in even-numbered years. This was previously called the Oregon Healthy Teens (OHT) Survey.

 

Monthly Opioid Overdose Data

Oregon Health Authority has convened experts from across the state to develop clinical guidelines on opioid prescribing. These guidelines focus on recommendations to improve patient safety and care, and address the ongoing prescription opioid overdose epidemic.
